Athanasia Karra

is a Special Education Teacher and Musician, based in Thessaloniki. She graduated from the Department of Education and Social Policy, with specialization in Education of People with Disabilities, University of Macedonia, with postgraduate studies in disability and inclusion, in Greece and abroad, she works as a teacher of parallel support.

In 2022 she was accepted as a postgraduate student in the Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Programme “Applied – Clinical Sociology and Art” of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of the Aegean and the Department of Visual and Applied Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Western Macedonia.
He holds a degree in Piano with Honours from the Municipal Conservatory of Ioannina, performing concerts and collaborating with orchestras of the city. She has attended seminars and training workshops in music and community music and has organized activities for the empowerment and highlighting of issues of disabled people, using art and specifically music as a tool, in collaboration with disabled people and institutions of the city of Thessaloniki. Since 2023, she has been collaborating with the AMKE BAKHAI, implementing music and movement education workshops for children 3-6 years old.

In July 2023 he participated in the 9th Summer Academy of Music Education entitled: “Using the circle as a tool: an experiential workshop of group improvisation with voice and percussion as unique instruments”, with Angeliki Toubanaki & Mitsy Akoyunoglou, of June University.

She is a volunteer and member of the orchestra of the International Festival “Reflection of Disability in Art”, from 2018, its starting year, until today and a regular member of the General Assembly of the Association of Friends of Disabled People – “Action for something else”, where she has been working for the last 5 years, conducting, among other things, music workshops for children, teenagers and adults with disabilities.
